Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve

In Acts 15:16 we are told that in the last days God would "rebuild the Tabernacle of David." Today we are seeing a resurgence of the importance of praise and worship as never before, and this must surely be evidence of the fulfillment of this wonderful promise beginning to come to pass.

But there is a cost to everything, and to be honest, I don’t think there are that many prepared to pay it. Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 "narrow is the gate that leads to life, and there are few who find it." I don't think this is referring exclusively to salvation, but to the fulfillment of divine destinies and callings as well. "Many are called, but few are chosen" or "few prove themselves to be the chosen ones." How often I have heard a man of God say, "I wasn’t the Lord’s first choice." We as individuals are responsible before God for that which He has entrusted to us, and we alone determine the extent to which we respond to the call of God on our lives. Yes it is by grace alone, but Paul feared that the grace extended to him should be in vain. ( 1Corintians 15:10 )

God is rebuilding the Tabernacle of David - a place of intimacy with Himself and a lifestyle of total abandonment in worship. Today there are many in the "christian music industry" to be sure, but that is not necessarily the same thing.

Stephen Bennett in his latest book has this to say: "Today He is raising up an "army" of musicians and singers - people consecrated and totally given in their hearts to the purposes of the Lord. They are satisfied with nothing but to carry the Lord’s PRESENT heart, mind and strategy in their message, song and melody. Music that God is speaking through by His Spirit, birthed from the portals of heaven itself by the listening "muse" whose life is GIVEN to God." (from the book "Prophet Musician" by Stephen Bennett. "Lord, I want to be."
"To everything there is a price."
"What is the price?"
"Choose this day whom you will serve" This is not just a once-for-all-time decision. "Choose this day" is a choice you must make every day. Every day you are faced with temptations and distractions that pull you away from the High call, and you must choose.

You serve distractions with your time.
You serve the flesh by gratifying it’s desires.
You serve your mind with worry about unnecessary things and people, and lose the focus of your calling.
You serve money by giving the acquisition of it more importance than is necessary for the provision of life’s necessities.
You serve the pursuit of happiness in temporal things, but only ONE THING can be eternally pursued to complete satisfaction, and that is the Eternal.

"And so you must choose."

"In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honour and some for dishonour. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." (1 Tim.2:20 )

Are you serving Me, or your own ends? Are you listening, as a servant listens for his master’s voice, or do you have your own agenda for the day? If you want to hear My voice, shut out every other voice. One of the reasons I provide forgiveness is to stop the incessant clanging of guilt in your soul. Most people have noisy souls, and such busy lifestyles, yet they wonder why they never hear Me. It’s a still, small voice. You won’t hear a still voice if you are rushing about in your spirit. You won’t hear a small voice if your soul is noisy and troubled. So fret not yourself because of the evil doer who prospers in his way. Turn aside, consider these things, and choose Life today.
