Are you eager to hear the whispers of the heart of the Father or does fear keep you at a distance? The Father heart of God is always full of love and kindness towards us. What an incredible privilege we have of calling our God “Daddy”!
“If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:11-13 NKJV
Fathers even with all their flaws and imperfections still have a heart to give their children good gifts. Luke 11:13 explains “how much more” can we expect our Father in Heaven to do the same. What is your expectation of your Heavenly Father? When you ask Him for one thing, do you believe you will get something else? Believe in the reality of His goodness towards you. God’s heart overflows with love and kindness towards you and He delights to see His children experience His goodness, mercy and love. The Father heart of God is always and only inherently good towards us.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17 NKJV
Sometimes we confuse the origin of what we are experiencing. If we experience something negative or we find ourselves in a bad situation, our conclusion at times can be that “God is teaching me a lesson or is developing character in me”. These kinds of thoughts or conclusions based on our experience are opposite to the reality and truth of who our Heavenly Father is. James 1:17 explains that good things come from our Heavenly Father. The later part of the verse explains that there is “no variation or shadow of turning”. God doesn’t change who He is. He is the Father of Light and the giver of good gifts. It is impossible for God to give anything but good things to you. It is all He has to offer! Don’t lower your expectation to the level of your experience. Our Heavenly Father always has and always will be the giver of good gifts.
The Father heart of God is not only full of goodness, but He also promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Deut. 31:6). Our Heavenly Father does not abandon us or leave us isolated but is a “very present help” (Psalm 46:1). Our Daddy God is not a passive observer in our lives. Let your Heavenly Father reveal the reality of His nearness to you. He is so much more than just an omnipresent God. The relationship our God desires to have with us is like the relationship a loving Father desires with His children. What an incredible privilege we have of calling God “Daddy”. Whatever your experience was or is with your father, your Heavenly Father wants to reveal the truth of what a true father’s heart is like. One of the most known verses in the Bible is, “for God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16). This verse describes the heart of our Father. Our Daddy God does not condemn us or withhold from us. John 3:16 says that God loves and He gives. That is the Father heart of our God – to give and to love us.
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.” John 3:16-17 The Message.
