The Name of the Lord
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."
Proverbs 18:10
The safest place to be is in the secret place. There we are hidden and kept safe in the shelter of His presence. When we feel confused, disheartened or overwhelmed; He is our strong tower that we can run to. He is our place of refuge and in His Name we find everything we need. There is safety and provision for every situation in Him.
Psalm 91 is a popular psalm describing the protection and security found in the Lord. Verse two starts by saying “I will say of the Lord”. This is a statement of choice. We choose to trust Him and make Him our refuge. Sometimes however, we don’t run to Him. We choose to brave a circumstance or situation in our own strength or with our own wisdom. We run to the tower of human wisdom and strength. This tower is not a safe place and is easily toppled by life’s circumstances.
Choose to trust in His name. There is so much security when we rest in the power of His Name. The bible reveals many names for the Lord; Immanuel, Healer, Comforter, Teacher, Good Shepherd, Lion of Judah and Beloved are to name a few. Each name represents an aspect of His nature. No matter what you are currently facing; in His Name is everything you need. Find what aspect of His nature you need to experience in your situation and run to that place of refuge found only in Him.
During this holiday season and the countdown to Christmas, my prayer is that you become more aware of His presence and the constant strength that is found in Him.
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." - Isaiah. 9:6 NIV
