God's Steadfast Faithfulness“I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens.” Psalm 89:1-2 Sometimes we tend to forget how faithful and merciful our God is. In the busyness of our lives we can reduce His love and faithfulness down to simply securing a job, finding that car park or some warm, fuzzy feeling in worship. His love and faithfulness extends so much further than to just the daily issues we experience in life. His love and faithfulness encompasses every generation and extends into our past, present and future. He is extraordinary in His faithfulness and greater than we can possibly comprehend. Our God chose us. Our God remains faithful to us and loves us despite our mistakes and short comings. Sometimes our choices make us feel either close or far away from God. We assume God’s proximity to us is determined by our performance. God however promises to never leave us nor forsake us and to be an ever-present help in trouble. He doesn’t back away in the face of our mistakes. Yes God is Holy and He is Light and in Him is no darkness at all (1John 1:5). However, God turned His face away from Jesus so He didn’t have to turn His face away from us. Because of Christ’s sacrifice for sin, we have confidence before God and direct access to His heart; direct access to the Holy of Holies. Psalm 37:3 tells us to feed on His faithfulness. His faithfulness and mercy should be at the forefront of our minds. It should be what we meditate on and highlight in our lives. Don’t change to feeding on condemnation or mistakes. As His faithfulness surrounds us, we become empowered to live in a way that reflects His great love and faithfulness towards others. Spend some time today to feed on His faithfulness towards you and experience His love in a fresh way. “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
