Song Lyrics / Exhortation
The Bible says it’s not of man who wills, it’s not of man who runs, but God who shows mercy, because He loves us. He loves us. The race is not to the swift nor to the strong but time and opportunity happens to all. Opportunity might not happen to everyone at the same time, but it does happen for everyone. God is a God of love. Maybe your time hasn’t come yet. Maybe you’re still hanging out. Maybe you are still believing God for that promise and like Elijah who sent his servant, you sent your faith out. You couldn’t see anything on the horizon but you went again. You went not once, not twice, not three times, until you saw a faint glimmer of hope on the horizon and your faith leapt inside and you said “Yes, that’s it! This is my moment now! This is my time now. This is the opportunity. This is the moment God has created for me.” Because what He’ll do for one, He’ll do for another. What He’s done for one, He’ll do for anyone. Because that’s the kind of God we serve. The Bible says “Hold fast your confidence. Hold fast in the rejoicing of hope firm to the end.”
Hold fast your confidence and the rejoicing of hope to the end (repeats)
We have to hold it fast because someone wants to take it from us. Don’t throw away your confidence which carries with it a great reward. Our confidence sustains us.
The promises of God... they produce joy! We taste victory before we have seen the reality. We taste it before we possess it. Hold fast to your confidence. There is always going to be a trial. That’s life. There’s always going to be a trial. But don’t harden your heart.
Don’t harden your heart (repeats)
The Bible says “Beware less there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God.” The Bible calls it an evil heart not because we’re evil but because it’s the work of the evil one to produce discouragement and ultimately unbelief in our hearts. Don’t harden your heart in the day of your trial. Hold fast to your confidence.
The Bible says exhort one another daily, while it is called today, less we be hardened. Just living in this sinful world, we have to deal with all sorts of trials. They could easily deceive us into thinking that God doesn’t care. He won’t come through for me. I’m not going to make it. I’m not worthy anyway. Listen!
Don’t harden your heart (repeats)
We’ve become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end. Anyone can have confidence in the beginning, anyone can have confidence in the beginning. It's whether you can endure the trials of life and still come through with your confidence intact that determines whether you become a partaker of the promises of God.
Count me in Lord. Count me in.
