I Am His

Song of Solomon 2:16 says "My beloved is mine, and I am his". There is something reassuring in knowing we are His. It brings stability and strength when we feel isolated and overwhelmed.

God longs to gather us to Himself like a hen gathers her chicks. This is a picture of safety, closeness and protection that reveals God's heart for His children. He is not a God who is afar off, remaining distant from our circumstances and daily life. He is an ever present help in times of trouble and a sanctuary of safety and love. He stands with His arms open wide towards us. All we have to do is choose to run into them.

However, sometimes our own stubbornness and will to do things ourselves keeps us at arm's length. This in effect keeps us from the very thing we need. We try to erect walls around our hearts to keep out hurt and disappointment. These walls are often mindsets or past negative experiences that try to assert themselves as truth. These walls instead of offering us protection, actually result in keeping us distant and callous to His love.

Allow yourself to be embraced by Love. As we do, the walls we have built will begin to melt in His arms. God's love has no sting. He is the perfect embodiment of love. Come embrace Love and rest in His arms knowing that you are His.
