Psalm 45:1 declares, “My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”
The psalmist’s heart in this scripture is overflowing with thankfulness and praise to his king. His words and thoughts are infused with the hope and goodness his heart is already filled with.
What is your heart currently filled with? Does your heart overflow with hope declaring the promises of God into your year? Or maybe you feel on the back foot, like you’re down for the count and barely holding your head above the waters of life. Begin to declare the goodness of God, and watch as your heart begins to fill with hope.
This year, let our hearts be filled with a good theme. Let the overflow of our hearts be one of goodness, thankfulness and faith; not bitterness and disappointment. The beginning of the year is a good time to take stock of the contents of our hearts. Are you dragging disappointment, fear, and hopelessness into your new year? Take stock of your emotions, thoughts and beliefs; and invite Jesus into the heart process. When you do, you may find some emotions, beliefs and mindsets are past their use by date. Allow the Holy Spirit to do a spring clean in your heart, so you can declare this year “my heart overflows with a good theme”!
