“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
The world shouts to "do more, be better, work harder and faster", and that waiting will result in falling behind. God’s Kingdom however is different to the world’s system. God tells us to wait on Him, and in so doing we tap into His strength, power and unsearchable knowledge. Waiting in the natural results in less time but waiting with God shifts our focus from our finite resources to the infinite abundance of Who He is.
A key to longevity and endurance in life is spending time waiting on the Lord. The strength to run the journey in front of us is found when we wait in His Presence. Don’t dismiss the waiting times of your life as a waste of time. Waiting on the Lord is essential if we want to soar as an eagle in life as Isaiah 40:31 describes.
"Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!" Psalm 27:14 NKJV
This verse tells us to wait on the Lord, twice. In a world which praises action, stopping to wait on God goes against the culture we are surrounded by. As we stop the busyness and choose to wait on God for His direction and insight, we will experience a strength and power from Him which surpasses our natural ability.
Waiting to encounter God far exceeds all our human effort to try and strengthen ourselves. Waiting on the Lord strengthens our hearts, shifts our focus upward, sharpens our purpose and brings the clarity and wisdom of heaven to our situation. The more we wait on the Lord, the stronger our hope becomes because our hearts are elevated to see through the eyes of eternity, the way our Heavenly Father sees. Prioritise waiting today in God’s Presence. He knows exactly what is needed for your situation and will give strength to your heart, hope to your future and His wisdom for what lies ahead.
