I give my life as an offering to you
I offer all of my days in serving you
Into Your hands give it all, knowing I'm safe if I fall
Willing to give it my all, longing to answer Your call
I give my life as an offering to You
Wanting to give it my all, longing to answer Your call
And You call me with Your still small voice
And I hear You, I will make a choice
To serve You, I give my life as an offering,
Bring you everything
This song was born out of practice session while worshipping the Lord. The guitarist and pianist worked together and improvised to give the finishing touches to this beautiful song of surrender.
Paul exhorts us in Romans 12:1 as follows:
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."
Our reasonable service of worship to God is the presenting of ourselves, not our gift, our voice, our instrument or anything else, but ourselves. Worship is more than singing in the choir or congregation on a Sunday morning; it is yielding ourselves moment by moment throughout the day, every day, as we lay our lives down for the one Who laid His life down for us.
Handing our lives over to someone else, even if it is God, is not an easy thing. We feel we are losing our life, giving it away; and we are. Jesus said that if we are to find our life we must first lose it. The decision to offer up our lives as a sacrifice and being fully committed to Him is the Highest form of praise and worship. Answering the call to serving God in this way, and giving Him our all, the Bible describes as our "reasonable" service of worship. It is reasonable because Jesus first gave Himself up for us. He gave us His all, and we in return bring Him everything we are. Thanks be to God for the unspeakable gift of His own dear Son.
