“So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending His own Son, is there anything else He wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?”
Romans 8:32 The Message
The gift of Jesus to a world in need revealed the generous heart of a Father. God gave us His greatest treasure – His Son. If God has already given His own Son to win back the hearts of His children; how much more will He not give us everything else? Our Heavenly Father goes above and beyond our best intentions. Even the best loving relationship we can experience or comprehend in our world cannot compare to the heart of love God has for us.
“You parents – if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him.”
Matthew 7:9-11 NLT
Our best intentions, our desire to serve and give the best to our friends and family fades in comparison to the enormity of God’s great love towards us. We have a limitless Father who wants relationship and connection with us. God’s original design was for us to have intimate friendship with Him. Adam and Eve walked with God and experienced heart to heart connection with Him in the Garden of Eden. After the Fall, this intimate friendship with God was no longer possible because of sin.
Through the cross and the New Covenant established through Jesus Christ; we can experience friendship with God once more. May we never take our friendship with God for granted. It was bought with a high price; the blood of Jesus. Through Jesus the way has been made for us to once again call God “friend”, and more importantly, for God to call us “friend”.
“No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” John 15:15 NKJV
