Worry can be described as "to disturb or interfere with someone's comfort or peace of mind; to cause anxiety, apprehension, or care". Jesus invites us to a worry - free life by asking us to cast our cares on Him. But sometimes we cast our cares on Him only to pick them up again throughout the day. This is often because we are afraid of not being in control and our worry reveals we have not relinquished control to God.
When we live in fear and worry, it causes us to have noisy souls. Our internal world is disquieted, unsettled and the atmosphere we project to the world around us is one of continual unrest. God desires us to have a pervading sense of peace emanating from us. There is a very famous song "Don't worry be happy" that became popular all over the world in the 80's. It's simple. Everybody worries. But it reminded us that in the midst of trying situations, we can be happy. And to do that we need to hold on to our peace. Peace is realized when we trust Him and choose to relinquish our burdens for Him to carry.
Come and lay it all down at His feet. Trust Him knowing that He is in complete charge and holds the world in His hands. His hands are big enough to carry any situation we give Him. God is inviting us to a divine exchange - all our cares and worry in exchange for His peace and overwhelming love. All we do is make the choice and say yes to this divine exchange. So the next time you face a challenging situation, tell yourself "No worries, the Prince of Peace will get me through this."
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly".
