In July 2011 my wife and I had the privilege of visiting Pastor Joseph Prince’s New Creation church in Singapore. We were part of a group of Australasian pastors lead by Col and Jan Stringer.

I had been looking forward to this trip ever since Col sent me the book “Destined to Reign” by Joseph Prince. I read the book with interest, as Col had prepared me for a “life-changing” event. Nothing could have prepared me for the depth of revelation that impacted my life at that time, and it continues to do so. What struck me in reading the book was the simplicity of writing, and the understanding that although I already knew the doctrines of grace, somehow the practical revelation of it had eluded me. I was left wondering, “how can I have been a christian for over 40 years, and a pastor for 20 years, and only now be discovering the truth and reality of what the saving grace of God really means, in a way that, as Jesus put it, “will set you free.”
Our whole church has been feeding on the resources offered by Joseph Prince ever since our first introduction to his teaching. This ministry has changed our church and my own personal relationships, especially my marriage and my family. The pressure that is removed when people are relieved of the performance mindset that drives so many Christians and churches, frees us to be who Jesus made us to be, loved and accepted, loving and accepting.
With all this change and understanding already imparted to us, I was looking forward to visiting Pastor Joseph Prince Ministries in Singapore to see what sort of fruit his grace doctrine was bearing. We were honoured by the pastors, the staff and those who attended us, in a way that has left a lasting impression on me. The influence of the spirit of grace was evident everywhere we went, in everyone we spoke to, and in everything we saw and heard. It reminded me of the Queen of Sheba of whom it was said, after she had visited Solomon, that “there was no more spirit in her.” I was overwhelmed, not by any materialistic splendour, but by the wonder of God’s goodness demonstrated in the place.
I felt especially prompted by the Holy Spirit to observe that this mantle of grace did not rest upon one man, but on all who were attending to the work at New Creation Church. As the writer of 1 Kings 10:5 noted, “when the Queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel … there was no more spirit in her.” I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me concerning the word “apparel.” The whole church is clothed with grace, and it deeply impacted me beyond words.
Only the profound revelation of the grace message is able to change the world. I am grateful that someone in this century is preaching the original message that Paul preached. It is a message we have sadly lost over the centuries, but God is restoring it to the church with shouts of “Grace! Grace! Grace!”
