Overcoming loneliness? Loneliness affects everyone at some point in their lives but you can overcome it by reminding yourself of the love God has for you. He shows you His love through the beauty you see in nature, through the kindness of a friend or a stranger. Oftentimes when we are going through a hard time, we wish someone knew us well enough to say or do something that would comfort and strengthen us. Someone who will walk with us through this time, not to judge but to be a friend. Jesus wants to be that someone for you. He already knows us for who we are and loves us completely. He wants to encourage you, bring you hope and remind you He is always by your side. Once you are assured of this truth and experience His love, you will be able to reach out to others who you can turn to in times of loneliness.
Some of us have known the Father's love but like the prodigal son, have chosen to walk away from Him and do life our way. We decided that we knew best how to live this life and achieve our hearts desires, without the help of God, the creator of the world. It isn't long before the realization dawns on us, that we really don't know that much and we get depressed and lonely because no matter how hard we try, it isn't enough. Our relationships fail and we wonder why we feel so lonely.
The good news is, even though we backslide like the prodigal son, our Father is waiting for us to come home. He isn't waiting passively, He is calling us to Him.
